getting back in shape with this blogging thing…

Standard

Well!  I haven’t blogged in FOREVER!  Sorry about that!  I have a tendency to go on postpostpostthisisallido streaks, then move on to streaks where I just sit around being lazy, not posting at all.   Doesn’t everyone?

I can’t decide whether I manage my time or not.  I’m certainly not organized.  Organized people, in my experiences, are able to keep their locker from looking like a black hole.  Among other things.

I get a lot of homework (well, depends how you define a lot.  one hour a night, maybe?) but, to raise my motivation, I like to set a sort of goal.  Like, if I finish my math homework before 7:45, I’ll eat two chocolate wafers, or, if I finish everything by 8:30, I’ll watch a Doctor Who episode, or my mom and I will watch a romantic comedy.  No matter where I am with my homework, we ALWAYS spend Wednesday nights watching Top Chef.  This season’s Top Chef All-Stars, which is where really good competitors who didn’t win from previous seasons go up against each other and cook.  Talk about addictive.  But we always have a different favorite show.  Last year it was American Idol, and the year before that it was Dancing With the Stars.  And don’t let this lead you to believing I’m AT ALL in sync with stuff like Glee or whatever else people watch, because I’m not in the least.  The point is that it’s TV, and there’s something so nice about just sitting down and lying there on our rather uncomfortable futon, half asleep, watching the Top Chef competitors make Dim Sum.

Anyway, what usually ends up happening with these goals is that I

1) eat the wafer/cookie/whatever I’m tempting myself with

2) decide once I’m done with homework that it’s far too late for a Doctor Who episode (because, despite the amazing shiver that a creepy science fiction British TV show can give you, sometimes it’s best to wait until the next day)

3) try to do my homework AS I watch an episode of something or a movie, which NEVER works.

Is there some logical way of doing this that I’m missing, or is it just me rambling?

Have a nice night/evening/morning/afternoon, wherever your time zone places you,

About talesfromtheflatlands

hm. how to start...? i'm a middle schooler caught in the middle of typical dramas and trying to balance work, friends, disorganization, and all that good stuff. yeah. enough said on that front... i live in a somewhat boring neighborhood in a somewhat interesting city chock-full of chain stores and odd buildings. i have a brother, parents, and a cat, and (not to be forgotten) a rag doll. i love tea, hot chocolate (see my blog for my recipe), collages, creative writing, bake sales, dystopian novels, Jane Eyre, Glee, Top Chef All-Stars (vehemently cheering on Antonia...), snickerdoodles, The Beatles, old movies, chatting with books falling out of my arms on the way to class, debates, and education reform. the list goes on... well? what about you? great to meet you, whoever's reading this... have a nice rest of day. -talesfromtheflatlands

  1. That sounds familiar!
Whenever “the cousins” come over to my house the same thing happens– the parents say to try not to stay up toooo late (they know saying that has absolutely no point whatsoever…) then we just go and go and go (board games, movies with the sound turned down almost alllll the way, and of course Madlibs) Its quite a scene!

  2. So you, too, like to watch tv half awake at night? Me too! I like to sit for awhile trying to do my homework but often end up on the couch with my cat watching “the big bang theory” which I never miss. And eating chocolate. It’s a ritual!
